The Spectrum Experience
Spectrum Science Communications offers outstanding opportunities for college/university students interested in gaining first-hand experience in public relations, strategic communications, public affairs and interactive/creative services. Since Spectrum is dedicated solely to health care, intern candidates must demonstrate an interest in our field of expertise. We strongly encourage people with excellent oral and written communication skills, an inquisitive nature and who are self-motivated to apply.
Positions are offered year-round to students enrolled as sophomores, juniors or seniors. We also encourage graduate students interested in acquiring experience in their chosen field. Spectrum understands the rigors of the school year and is flexible in working with our interns’ semester schedules. During the school year, we offer a limited number of paid part-time internships. During the summer we offer full-time paid internships.

Public Relations/Public Affairs Candidates
As a PR/PA intern you will be given the opportunity to learn fundamentals of the communications arena, while focusing on cutting-edge science and health breakthroughs. Gain experience in media relations research, the development of press materials, marketing research skills, media monitoring and internal strategy sessions. You may work with staff of all levels on projects.
We accept applicants who are enrolled in communications, journalism, English or other related majors, and who can work in a dynamic, fast-paced and diverse environment to support our clients in exceeding their business or organization goals.
Technology + Design Candidates
Spectrum's Technology & Design team produces top-notch strategic advertising, collateral and Web sites for a diverse group of clients. Technology & Design interns will have the opportunity to produce hands-on design for print and Web projects, learn from a talented, strategic creative team and develop a great portfolio.
To qualify, you should have a background in graphic design and/or Web development, as well as strong creative skills with a talent for producing creative solutions. Those who apply should be proficient in either Mac or PC, Creative Suite 2, Quark Xpress, Dreamweaver and Flash. Internet research and HTML skills are a plus.
