Mary Ann Chaffee offers more than 20 years experience in public policy, spanning both houses of Congress and the executive branch. She oversees Spectrum’s public affairs and health policy division, where she designs and manages initiatives to influence local, state, and federal health care policy.

Mary Ann began her career in Washington as a Presidential Fellow in the White House Office of Management and Budget. She later served as a senior policy advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services where she worked on policy issues ranging from Medicare drug utilization review to infant mortality prevention. During her time on Capitol Hill, she worked as senior committee staff on the House Budget Committee and later as health policy advisor and legislative director in the Senate. Her portfolio included appropriations and legislation related to Medicaid, Medicare, health services delivery, childhood immunization and global health crises. She helped design a funding initiative to eradicate global polio, which resulted in the implementation of a CDC and World Health Organization program that has eliminated polio in all but four countries.

Prior to joining Spectrum, Mary Ann spent three years as Vice President at the Glover Park Group, where she advised companies, organizations, coalitions and issue campaigns on policy and integrated communications strategies. She has graduate degrees from Case Western Reserve University and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She serves on the Sabin Vaccine Institute’s Board of Trustees and the Center for Infectious Disease Research’s Board of Advisors.
